The Cellphone Gospel: The 4 Spiritual Laws retold as a cellphone analogy.

Did you know that God Loves You and created you to have a relationship with Him?! Here’s how:

Where do Cellphones come from?

They are made at a factory which means they were created! Cellphones don’t just come out of nothing, right? Now, imagine an inventor creating a cellphone that could walk around and have all of the five senses like us? That would take a lot of intelligence! Well, You are far more complex than any cellphone in the world, so logically, your Creator has greater intellence. (See Psalm 139:14 ) This means that you didn’t just come from nothing, you were created by the God Himself!

What are Cellphones made for?

Cellphones are designed with purpose. There are all kinds of cellphones with different features, but they all have one main purpose. Communication! Relationships! Friendship! You can’t use a toaster like a cellphone, right? A toaster’s purpose is to toast things! Even if it wanted to be a cellphone, it doesn’t have the capacity. It wasn’t designed that way for that purpose. Now, just like you are far more complex than a cellphone, you also have a higher purpose than a cellphone. What’s that? Love! A cellphone can not think for itself, but you can! God made you for loving relationships, because God Himself is a loving person and made you in His likeness. (Genesis 1:27)

Here’s the bad news: You are separated from God

What happens when you first get a brand-new Cellphone?

The battery is dead! You can’t automatically dial any of your friends because there numbers aren’t there. And even if you had the numbers, you can call them if you don’t have any service plan. We don’t have batteries, but we do have a spirit. Just like a brand-new cellphone, when we start off our “battery”, or our spirit is dead. To fulfill our purpose, we need a new spirit because our current one is dead. How do we get a new spirit? Cellphones need to get connected into a power source to restore the battery. God is the only source that can restore our spirit. The problem is that we can’t because we don’t have a direct connection to God. Why? Because of Sin. Sin, or bad things we do, cuts us off from our connection to God. (Isaiah 59:1-2)You only have to cut a connection once to break it, right? If you cut a cord a bunch of times, the connection was broken only after the first cut. In the same way, only one sin broke our relationship, our connection to God. Since all of us have sinned none of us have a firect connection to God (Romans 3:23).

The Good News: God sent Jesus to fix it.

Jesus Christ brings us back into a relationship with Himself

God gave us rules in the Bible for a relationship with Him and we broke them. You might have heard of “Thou shall not steal” or “Thou shall not lie”? All of us have broken these rules and have willingly broke off our connection with Him. Even if we deny it, we still have a broken relationship with God. And a broken relationship is no relationship with Him. There was only one person in the entire world who had a perfect connection with God, and that was Jesus Christ. Jesus is totally man and totally God. As a human being, He can have a real relationship with us. As God, He was 100% perfect in every way, and never wavered in His connection to God from the moment he was born until the day He died.

Now, imagine someone you totally hated and never wanted to be around handed you a cellphone and said, “I paid everything for this cellphone so we can talk on it like best friends.” You might take the cellphone, but would you want to call them every day? Let’s be honest. No. We might take the phone, but we wouldn’t call someone everyday who we hated. Some of us might even delete their number! (I would.) In the same way, Jesus was treated like someone we totally hated. He suffered because we hated him, but we didn’t realize that He was paying the price so that we could have a connection with God and a brand-new spirit. You might be given a free cellphone, but someone has to pay for service for you to use it. Could you imagine the cost of a service plan with God? None of us could pay that price because we don’t have that connection with God. But Jesus willingly did. Jesus paid the price with His own life for everyone in the entire world to have a connection with God (John 3:16)

You must accept Jesus Christ to have this relationship

So we’ve acknowledged that we have been created for a relationship with God, but we can’t have a connection with Him because of sin. Jesus gave Himself so that we now have that opportunity. So then what? God’s “text message” or Bible says that we just need to confess our need for Him and believe on Jesus Christ and we are saved (Romans 10:9-10). Cellphones that are useless get thrown away, and the same thing happens to our dead spirit unless we get a new one before we die. Jesus takes this so seriously, that He compares it to being “born again” in the spirit (John 3:3). And once you’re born, you can’t be unborn, right? Well, same thing goes for your spirit. If you ask Jesus to come into you and give you new life and connection to Him, you receive His spirit called the Holy Spirit. If God is the power source, then Jesus is the power cord, and the Holy Spirit is the rechargeable battery for you life. All these need to be present to have a connection to God. Without Jesus you can not be connected to God and without the Holy Spirit you can not have the power of God in your life. Do you want to be connected to God?

God is right here, right now as you read this. Tell Him if you want a relationship with Him. Realize that your sins have cut you off from Him and believe that Jesus paid the price for you personally. God knows when we’re playing with Him, and He knows when we’re sincere. If you’ve really asked Jesus to come into you then as a down-payment or “proof” or your connection to Him, then you will be filled with His Spirit, the Holy Spirit. His Spirit will help you to understand the Bible, or God’s personal “Text message” to you. God has “text messages” for you all the time, you just need to open the Bible and start texting with Him!
